Heroclixin’ Flavor of the Week: Clark Gregg

Hey all, it’s your sitemaster Rurouni KJS here for a very special installment. For my first entry into this new mostly weekly feature, here’s PHIL COULSON from the recent Captain Marvel gravity feed set.

Phil Coulson [Captain Marvel 018] 75 points

I’ve always liked the character, both onscreen and in Heroclix, but this is the first version that feels complete to me. His initial clix in 2012 was an OK Perplexer (one mostly immune to 100-plus-point attackers) with a nice evac Special Power, but he felt very bystander-like and was hard to use well.

His next appearance(s) in the Nick Fury set (036 and FF002) were more aggressive, but lacked oomph for their 75 point price. The 50-point dial on the FF piece was kinda sad, too. No Stealth on either belies his skills as a spy (one totally lacks the keyword).

This one fully reflects Coulson’s developments on the 5-season series as not only an agent of SHIELD, but as its full-fledged director without losing his field agent effectiveness. He gets to cart the team around via his Zephyr jet SP, brings the support skills with his Tradecraft trait, has the Stealth the others didn’t, and trait Energy Shield/Deflection that stacks onto his Toughness (to say nothing of his STOP click) for an overall definitive Coulson that I can’t wait to use again with his team.

So here’s the Very Special Part of this hopefully routine installment of Heroclixin’ — today marks 10 YEARS since I started the blog!

It’s been a F.U.N. ride for sure, and one I have zero intentions of stopping now — especially with fellows like Taylor aka The Baker Tay and Sceritz aka IV Wall aka Scooter along to share in it. Thank you, clix brothers, and others who’ve been reading and sharing games with me since the blog began and before (not a complete list by far):
