Top Ten HeroClix of 2015: Intro and No. 10

Heroclixin’ wishes all a great Christmas! Our gift to you: The beginning of our annual Top Ten lists. Here are the ground rules:

  • We’re looking at Modern Age only.
  • We’re considering the 300-point game, which filters out certain high-cost pieces that might otherwise dominate the list.
  • Figures only. Despite the overwhelming effect of resources, they’re not being considered for a Top Ten Clix list.
  • By the same token, any fig that needs a resource or equipment to be strong isn’t making the list. And that goes for the equippable characters as well.
  • But the top characters also need to be able to handle the presence of such tactics as resources or entities.

Enough talk. Let’s get to the list!

No. 10

Red Tornado [Superman/Wonder Woman 021]

Indom. Sidestep. TK. Outwit. All make a great combo for a support figure — or one that costs HALF the 95-point price of robo-Lois here. But all this isn’t why she makes the list. She’s here for this trait:

RIDE THE CYCLONE: Red Tornado can use Force Blast normally or as a free action. When she activates Force Blast, after actions resolve, if the target is still adjacent to her, deal that character 1 penetrating damage.

Whoa. So that means she could move 11 squares to get next to, say, Heroclixin’s 2015 Top Ten honorable mention Superdoom, then knock him off his daunting 20 DV FOR FREE in the same turn. There is no other figure in the game that can do that and that’s why she spins into the number 10 slot among the Top Ten figs of 2015.

We’ll be posting one or two a day as we count down to the No. 1 figure of the year! Then we’ll take a walk on the bad side of clix as we tally 2015’s 10 WORST pieces before wrapping up the look back with Heroclixin’s 10 most F.U.N. HeroClix of the past 12 months. Stick with us for the next pair of weeks!
