As announced HERE, Modern Age rotation in HeroClix has moved to a three-year cycle, where game elements will typically retire after three appearances at HeroClix Worlds.

The game elements that retired today, Nov. 1, are mostly convention exclusives that were set for rotation anyway:

DC HeroClix

  • D23-001 Batman: Bats as a mermaid really was all dream — one we barely played after all these
  • D23-002 Space Ghost: This was one of my all-time favorites. It’s a little melancholy to see him go.
  • D23-003 Superman: Rainbow Fingers Supes is flying off into the sunset.
  • D23-004 Wonder Woman, D23-005 Wonder Woman, and D23-006 Wonder Woman: I wanted more time with the WW Generations. At least there’s a new Yara Flor to ease the loss.
  • D23-007 The Joker: “Scooby Doo” Joker is trapped by the march of time.
  • D23-100 Starrophyte: There’s a bitter irony that this piece retires now but the Starro who could use him remains in Modern.
  • Royal Flush Gang Storyline OP (all associated elements): All right, they fold.

Marvel HeroClix

  • M23-001 Captain America: Pegasus Cap is off to go dance with Peggy or something. He’s had a good flight.
  • M23-002 Hawkeye & Hawkeye: The archery duo has fired their last Modern arrows.
  • M23-003 The Watcher: Now he’ll watch from Silver.
  • M23-004 Thorgwen: Gwen GONE
  • M23-005 Venom, God of Symbiotes: Supplanted by Carnages and Poisons and the like.
  • WKM-M001 Search For Ammut’s Tomb: This was banned anyway.
  • WKM001 Moon Knight: Oh, the “WKM” sets. Released in too-limited quantities in 2023, they didn’t see nearly enough play. This 200-point Moon Knight in particular got overshadowed by the Next Phase rare.
  • WKM002 Black Knight: At least he has a Modern Age replacement now.
  • WKM003 Harrow: Another one supplanted by a different (better?) version in a bigger set.
  • WKM004 Mr. Fantastic, WKM005 Human Torch, WKM006 Infinity Thing and WKML057 Invisible Woman: With these, there are once again none of the Fantastic Four in Modern Age. Not until next year, anyhow.
  • WKM007 Captain America, WKM008 Black Panther, WKM009 Shuri: This “Wakanda Forever” kit … didn’t last forever.
  • WKM010 Miles Morales, WKM011 Spider-Gwen, WKM012 Spider-Man: The Gwen had suddenly become meta due to some Knull interaction. Only for Silver, now.
  • Iconix: First Appearance Avengers (all associated elements): They have had their LAST appearance in Modern.
  • X-Men Hellfire Gala 2 (all associated elements): The high fashion Krakoa Age X-Men had a long run(way). It’s over now. It’s canceled.

Warner Bros. HeroClix

  • WBX1-001 Betelgeuse: Still banned in Silver — with good reason. Showtime’s done!

Speaking of Silver, a lot of shifts happened, too. Stuff unbenched (like Stop Sign constructs). Stuff in the penalty box (legacy Eternity). Stuff joining the Restricted list (like Stop Sign constructs). Stuff banished into ban-land, perhaps forever (Wakanda Hulkbuster? :cry emoji:). And once-banned bits back in the chat (hello again, prime Vulture and Mad Jim Jaspers!).

It’s all too much to discuss here, because we’re not that kinda clix site. But it’s gonna make States events interesting, this final quarter of 2026 leading into 2027.
